OUR GOAL
Help to improve the quality of children's life at the Omukisa center and the community of Iganga by supplying them with drinking water using local materials and local labor.
Understand the project in 2'!
Iganga is a district of Uganda
50 boys and girls
100 community members
Having drinking water not only quenches thirst, it also...
Improves education
All the time they used to spend fetching water can be spent studying. In addition, having a healthier and safer life reduces school absenteeism and therefore improves their performance.
Decreases hunger
Being able to ensure that the children of the center and the surrounding families have water throughout the year will allow their vegetable plantations to stay alive in the dry seasons and thus improve their nutrition.
Increases job opportunities
All the time that they used to invest in fetching water will be dedicated to vocational training and working in paid activities.
Lightens up domestic
tasks
Cooking, washing dishes, cleaning clothes, showering, watering their crops, giving water to animals... having easy access to drinking water, will help them carry all these activities more easily.
Reduces diseases
Access to drinking water and sanitation, better hygiene habits and proper waste management can reduce many of the most common diseases in the area.
Increases gender equality
Women and girls bear the brunt of water scarcity. From a worse education and less time to devote to paid work to a greater number of diseases.
