OMUKISA water

The children at OMUKISA center and the surrounding community do not have enough water to cover their basic needs.

With the OMUKISA water project we want to change this reality and ensure that all of them have safe drinking water.

01. Actual context

The area where the Omukisa center is located only has this public well:

Problems

It does not have enough extraction capacity.
It dries up often.
There are long waiting lines.
It is far away.
The water is not always in good condition.

There are 6 months drought in Uganda.

And when it does rain, only few people have rainwater collection and storage systems.

02. Objectives

Build a well with a solar-powered pump in Omukisa.

Store water in a tank and distribute it by gravity.

Work with local labor and local resources.

Raise awareness and generate citizen participation.

The community will be able to use the water from the well for FREE and WHENEVER they need it.
